Hey guys! It’s finally official! AgBookClub will kick off in September!
First question you probably have — What exactly is AgBookClub?
AgBookClub is your typical book club, but focused on the themes of food and agriculture. We’ll cover a wide variety of books (including some we don’t necessarily agree with) and we’d love to include a few documentaries soon, too.
Next question — How does AgBookClub work?
AgBookClub will be built around a weekly chat, held on Wednesdays at 8:00pm Central on Twitter. One book will be featured each month and will be broken down into manageable sections for our weekly Twitter chats that month. Each book and reading assignments will be announced in a blog post, so be sure to subscribe to our blog for the latest updates (link in the sidebar). There will be a re-cap blog post for each chat in case you happen to miss one week. We’ll also write a blog post at the end of each book and file it on our book shelf.
And the last question we’re going to cover in this post — How do I join AgBookClub?
Joining AgBookClub is easy! All you need to do is get a copy of the featured book (you can purchase or borrow), read the book 😉 and then join our weekly Twitter chat using #AgBookClub. We’re always in search of great books to read, so please submit any book requests or recommendations for a future read here. (We would also love it if you’d consider purchasing your book through the links in our posts so that we can earn a little something-something to put towards website maintenance.)
Want to give it a try? Great! Here’s what you need to do:
Get a copy of the featured book for September.
Read the book.
Yes, there’s homework. We’re all busy people and we promise that we’ll keep it manageable. We’ll need a few months to get it just right, so we appreciate your flexibility!
Join the #AgBookClub Twitter chat Wednesdays at 8:00pm Central. We’ll have our first chat on Wednesday, September 6th. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for updates. We’ve also established a Facebook group for conversations throughout the week.
That’s it! See you on the chat on September 6th! Don’t forget to do your homework. 😉
